On Sunday 18th of July Gavin Waddell, Phyathai Sriracha International marketing executive introduced the speaker ENT specialist Dr. Wilawan Suriyayon who gave a talk on the subject of Allergies at the Pattaya City Expats Club which is located at the Tavern by the Sea, on the ground of the Amari Orchid Resort and Tower.
Dr. Wilawan explained what allergies are, what causes them, their symptoms and appropriate treatment. Allergies are an exaggerated reaction by the immune system to something the body comes in contact with. The body can have an allergic reaction to a specific allergen. Allergens can be inhaled, swallowed, or come into contact with the skin causing an abnormal reaction. Allergies that most frequently cause problems are: pollens, mould spores, house dust mites, animal dander, foods, insect bites and stings, plants, latex rubber, viruses, bacteria, medications and environmental conditions. Allergic reactions occur after the immune system mistakenly learns to recognise innocent foreign substances (allergens) as potentially harmful.
